When you turn off the glowing panel in front of your eyes, and lift your head, there is a world "out" there. It can be big and scary. I only do this when I have an adult nearby, so I can hold their hand.
Or maybe this forum should be the model of civility for those other forums. We don't all have to aspire to lowering ourselves to the levels of the other forums.
One of the difficulties I've always had in Roman Republic coins is the amount of time and knowledge needed to accumulate a collection that represents the period and its history in the manner that these twelve coins do. When I first started collecting Roman coins, I thought that all Republic coins were just variations on the "Roma obverse" theme. So I moved on to other periods, specifically the 12 Caesars. It takes real persistence and diligence to amass such a different and historically interesting collection that your 12 represent. Very well done!
Thank you very much Eidibus Martiis! And thank you for your post about civility on our forum. I started out collecting the 12 Caesars too. Here was the first Roman coin I ever bought. I don't have it anymore but oh was I proud of it when I did!
Wow!! => that's an awesome coin, Carthago ... again, your taste rocks!! errrr ... here's my 14th thread-coin-addition ... ... ummm ... my example seems to have a couple more letters Do you know what? => despite our obvious personality differences => I love this place!!
I think we should get out and have a little coin party with the locals, watcha think @4to2centBC and @Collect89.
I remember, I once was so engrossed with the verbal donnybrook that I dunked too long and drowned my bickie. I flat out got the vapors and had to lay down. Now if I can pull the crew back onto the trail.............I want more Fave 12's in ONE photo. Step up...............more 12 Caesars....more anything...... top 12 apostles, 12 days of christmas, a dozen donut shaped fave coins, whatever as long as it is Fave 12's
IDK You throw slushies and I hate doing laundry. Maybe one of these days when I'm not travelling a lot. Hey Bing. Nice coins.......btw clicking your link was like falling back down the rabbit hole. My cup of tea froze solid.
Great thread. You guys have a lot of fun around here. I'm glad I stumbled upon this forum. Here are my 12 (not even remotely to scale). This was really hard!
Welcome Nick! I've read your stuff for years at Forvm. You'll enjoy these folks here. A very friendly crowd of all collecting levels and very few rules other than good manners. It's my new coin home. And love your top 12!
Until now, I had been reluctant to post in this thread, partly because (despite the small size of my collection -- currently only 47 coins) of the difficulty of selecting just 12 of those 47. But having enjoyed others' coin selections in this thread, I was motivated to add my own. Herewith my top twelve, although this could change whimsically from day to day...
I've been waiting for you..... And it was worth the wait. Keep them coming folks. I am surprised at the breadth of many collections
