If you live in cali an invoice under $1500 at GC will cause sales tax to be added though :(

no, but it CAN be used as money.

We have all heard of silver eagles used as a $ at gas stations

Since the weight and fineness are stamped into the coin, it,s neither a commerative nor a dime... just another bullion coin.

That's a very good point chascat. Just like 5 ounce bullion pieces can't be considered an extension of the Washington Quarter Series.

So CAN eggs or milk. Doesn't mean that they are currency, either

Who was the last person to buy gas with eggs or milk?

    Outside of North Dakota?

    North Dakota :hilarious:

They switched to accepting cash during the shale boom but now they're back to bartering farm goods until oil spikes again

If you use eggs for barter, The Feds will want a few eggs for taxes.

Very last person? Can't tell you. The last time I did so was back in the 1970s while still living with my parents on the farm. But, I would wager a fairly large sum that barter is still used to make a purchase at the very least as often as silver eagles are used at so-called "face value".

I bet, even today, the former outnumbers the latter by a *wide* margin. Even in the "sophisticated" city I engage in one form or another of barter regularly.

No they will want dollars based on the market value of the eggs.

And the Feds shop at Whole Foods, not Aldi. :)
