Cool token, but looks like it could use a little VerdiCare love. :)

I coat all my old copper coins with verdicare. of course not proofs or ect...I think coating them will help protect them, and bring out the details without surface etching....yada yada....

I believe the token in question is nickel.

VerdiCare won't hurt it. Might not help, but it won't hurt. What do you think about the blue spot at the bottom of the globe?

I noticed it too. Not sure what it is. Maybe some gunk on it?

The coal scrip catalog doesn't have any pics but the same shop has a later edition that I'm going to go back and pick up.

However you did make me look at the book closer and I discovered it's signed by the author!

What! It's not the ice cap of the south pole? :>)

I looked at it under my stereo microscope and I'm not sure what it is either. Monday I plan to get some VerdiCare and see what happens. I save all my collections in airtites, but I'll have to modify something to fit. It's 28mm in size.

Air tites come in 28mm size. They're made for large cents.

My dealer closest to me doesn't stock it. If I have to buy it direct from the manufacturer and add shipping, it gets to be a bit much.

Just picked this one up on eBay from Rick Irons. Fuld 10/298a with rusty crusty obverse die and splintered reverse die (I have a feeling this die was about done when this one was struck). High grade - may slide to an MS - I'm concerned about the ribbon on the rear having some rub beyond cabinet friction. Got it for a price I wish I could get more often!

Just a couple I don't think I've listed here yet. I was amazed when I looked on ebay to check on what the 1818 North American Tokens were selling for, amazing what sellers are asking for some of these. I know they likely won't be able to sell them for the prices they're asking for, but I still find it amazing. Anyone here notice?? Oh and a 1906 Wanamaker Token I wanted to add to my Indian Token collection. I've listed the flying baby before but I needed it to fill space today. :D $1818token_57.JPG $_1818 Reverse57.JPG s-l1JWStore Obv600.jpg s-l1JWStore Rev600.jpg $_ghghgh57.JPG

I know everyone here has just been jonesing for some more military trade tokens and I have a couple for you this evening!

First, big thanks to forum member & friend - @BRandM - his generosity is unmatched! It was like freaking Christmas today because he sent me a bunch of tokens that really expanded my collection quite a bit. I am so thrilled! Anyway I snapped a couple that he sent me, as well as two others. I hope you all enjoy them.

    MS30d Columbus AFB $1.jpg
MS30d, Columbus AFB, plastic, 38mm. This series of tokens is described in by Cunningham as having a "," after "COLUMBUS" but I've never seen one with it and am assuming it's a typo.

    MS30h Columbus AFB 10c.jpg
    MS30h, Columbus AFB, plastic, 29mm, unlisted color! A gift from @BRandM !

    MS30i Columbus AFB 25c.jpg
MS30i, Columbus AFB, plastic, 32mm, unlisted color! Gift from @BRandM !

I have two more plastic tokens from Columbus AFB, in black, that I haven't shoot yet. Probably not tonight either, I'm getting tired...

    JP6340e Yokota AB $1.jpg
JP6340e, aluminum, 37mm. This photo is a little too dark I think but even in the light it's hard to read. The relief is too low on the legend but what this photo fails to capture is the thickness of this token. It's an impressive chunk of aluminum!

Ugh, it's bedtime. I just photo'd 14 coins and I didn't like any of the pictures. Well, better luck tomorrow! I've got some cool Vietnam, Illinois, California, Maine, and Germany tokens to share...and about 300 others!

Just upgraded my Great Central Fair token. Listed as a Civil War token (PA-750L-1a) these were struck as part of a display at the fair by the US Mint on one cent planchets. Pretty neat piece. My current specimen is raw, this one is certified MS64RB by NGC and has a Virgil Brand pedigree. I also paid less for this one than the other... win-win-win!
