It's a long shot that anyone would know the answer to this but...
I have a coin there now. Sent it Express service and it should be Monday before I hear. BUT, when I go to cert verification and type in the cert number that was on the holder when I sent it in, it says "not a valid number." (It USED to be valid and would pop right up. Now it doesnt).
So does this mean they upgraded it? Or do they temporarily remove all Reconsideration cert numbers until they are thru the process - then they make the numbers valid again? (I'm just trying to discover if that's a way to tell if it upgraded before the results actually post online).

Since they wouldn't remove a cert no. from the database temporarily, as that could end up wasted effort, any removal would almost certainly be permanent, which means that they must have removed the coin from the holder . . . surmise what you will. I think you got your upgrade.

I hope you're right. I'll let you know. An upgrade means a jump in value from 13k to an unknown value. Finest known.

What service did you request when you sent it in? Reconsideration or regrade?

And coming up "Not a valid number can also indicate a problem on the website.

Reconsideration. Where they don't crack it unless it upgrades.

If it's just like NGCs regrade service which I just got 2 coins back from, they crack the coins out so they are raw to the graders, then the graders give them a new grade without knowing the old grades. If it goes higher it goes up, anything else, it stays the same. New coins will have new certs if they upgraded or not. This is NGC, I'm not sure if it's the same with PCGS.

Regrade at PCGS means they crack it out. Reconsideration means they leave it in the holder and decide whether to upgrade it. Mine is reconsideration.

I called them. It's pcgs we're talking about here. They're not known from customer service and they wouldn't say a peep about it.

I don't have pics on hand at the moment. It's an 1880 CC Morgan dollar MS66+ PL. I think it's a DMPL, but I'll also take a 67 lol.

should have tried for the regrade, or if it doesn't, try again for the regrade... if it's a 13k difference, it makes sense to at least try a few times.

Click on 'Forums' in the medium blue menu bar, Decide what forum you wish it to be in, click on that forum, and you should see a blue "POST new thread' Button. Push.

It is CAC'D, so I didn't want to crack it out.

Grades aren't final until they're posted. I don't think this is a customer service issue as much as it is probably a policy not to discuss "in progress" grades on any submission with customers.

I agree. Too much could go wrong. Could be reversed before it's finalized. I just think there's a chance that since the old cert number is not currently valid, they may have cracked it, which they wouldn't do with reconsideration unless they upgraded it or gave it the DMPL like it deserves instead of the PL. Still, I won't know until next week and the suspense is going to KILL me.
