Any chance of a picture of the edge, it looks in remarkably good condition? A bit too good.

I'm not sure whether it's worth a dollar or 50 cents. Obverse of an as, reverse of a semis

Yes, it is a fantasy piece. Both Roman Republican types, the Janus head from a didrachm, and the galley prow from an as. Not worth anything.

Onofrio, the rest of us seem to think it is a modern fake. The entire region near the rim is wrong (as is the style of the Janus head). I hope you did not pay much (anything) for it!

@Onofrio Bacigalupo Why come here and ask for our opinions if you are just going to turn around and refuse to even listen to those opinions? There are people in this thread with quite a few Roman Republican bronzes in their collections, and who know a lot about those coins.

Frankly, it looks fake to me too, and I don't even collect Roman bronzes, but I've seen tons of pictures of the ones that members here collect. The edges on your token are wrong, the surface looks wrong, and I find the condition too good to be true. It's a modern token worth at best $1.00 on Ebay to someone who might collect modern fake examples.

Wrong! I know what I'm talking about when it comes to these coins and I have handled enough to know what authentic ones look like and this is an embarrassingly bad fake. Hope you didn't pay much for it. Stick around here and pay some attention and maybe you'll learn enough to buy an authentic one next time.
