Thank you all for the support. A lot of the arrogant A holes over there are gloating like they should be supervisors for PCGS. The reality is none of them have seen the coin in hand. Anyway, I am far from done with this coin, and giving up on it after a single submission in my opinion would be more foolish than submitting it 7 times. I won't submit it that many times, as I don't think it would need to be. I think 1 more should suffice.

I have refrained from posting as I don't think I could have given an unbiased opinion (I made the mistake of looking at the posts before posting my own grade) and that I did not want to grade from your pictures. I felt they were overexposed, and that the coin may or may not look much different in-hand.

I have been anxiously awaiting the results, and can feel your disappointment. Try NGC as I think they are a better company of the main two.

I know.. And that image is the scaled down version that I downloaded.

Here is the link to those that might want to download the highest possible resolution file. http://images.pcgs.com/trueview/81089181

I don't know why I blurred out the cert number.. It's getting cracked out the second I get it back anyway....

TrueView looks nice. It must have to do with the difference between the expected and observed "creaminess" on the cheek, given the clean fields.

At this point the only thing I can think is it didn't pass the sniffer test for whatever reason.

Thats kind of what I was thinking. If the surfaces were altered as some have eluded to, it would have been bagged as "altered surfaces" rather than "cleaned".

This one could also be a victim of being too good. What I mean is they were on the fence about something or iffy about something on the surface they basically had to hit it with a details grade or they straight grade it at a significant value. If it was a 100 dollar coin probably gets the benefit of the doubt but at 4 figures or so nothing generally gets the benefit of the doubt

That, if true (and it might be) would be even more irritating. As hard as I try, I cannot quite reach MS68 for it (mind, I have the fullsize True View open on my screen as I type this); the marks, few as they are, are sizable and it just doesn't get there for me as a result.

And, based on PCGS Pops, it's the "easiest" Carson City Morgan in MS67.

I don't think it's a 68 either (wouldn't stick my neck out to that extent based off a picture either ) but I do think if it graded straight we'd be looking at a 900 dollar coin or so which is around where they really seem to start nit picking. The 66s have been going around 900 on ebay, 66+ at GC broke 1k and 2500 or so seems to be the floor for 67s with it over 3k for a CAC one. The one 67+ I found (if it happened to hit that) broke 10k with a CAC sticker as well.

It was almost a no win situation for everyone. Either details or substantial value or get completely mocked netting it into a 64ish holder if they wanted to go that route for whatever gave them concern.

PCGS? Ha! I think you got shafted. That coin is gorgeous and should have graded at least a 66, easy. But, what do I know, I just got banned from over there!

I quit posting there when they banned Mark Feld, years ago. It's like banning the Easter Bunny - no nicer guy exists in numismatics.

Thanks guys for the support. I really think I got shafted. It was a first submission for me and the coin was a potential monster. I know they say it doesn't matter who submits as the graders are blind to that, but I call BS on that. Had a well known National Dealer sent this in, I think it would have easily straight graded. My initial gut feeling was 67 with a shot at 67+. I shall see what NGC says of it. If I get the grade I hoped for, then I'll send it off to CAC. I've had a much better record with them on the two GSA's I submitted.
