    Hi everyone,

    Show and tell time!

My brother got his cuneiform tablet in the mail yesterday and was happy to see that he got a bit of a discount, according to the tag that came with it.

I took some pics and wanted to share them. There's supposed to be traces of a palm print on the back, but, I'm not seeing it yet.

I'm going to contact CDLI and see if we can get a translation of it.

    Thanks!

Very neat. I'd get one if the price is right. But like Chris, don't need another area to blow my what little free $ I have a month. Got too many hobbies as it is. I know I could goto artifacts. But there is alot of fakes too :/

It's in excellent condition, considering it is 3500+ years old. A translation would be great!

    Thanks everybody.

I contacted the CDLI today. Hopefully we hear back from them soon.

I can see getting into antiquities as something that can be dangerous. Fortunately, my budget, for the most part doesn't allow me to go there.

I think I'll stick with coins and collect vicariously through my brother.

Great looking tablet! How big is it? And is there any translation? The back looks like it has some cool seated figures. I assume the black is from the firing of the tablet to make everything permanent?

Thanks.. the back is either a seated king or a god. But the tablet inscribed an offering of goats and cattle to the temple. I need to find the original letter again. As for dimensions it is around 60 x 50 or so. The dark spots could have been oil marks..
