Acquired 3 more FE cents this weekend (making 38 total in my collection so far, and still wanting more!) But anyhoo - Is there a difference in collectivity or a premium with the "high" leaf or "low" leaf varieties. Here's the 3 that I acquired - center one (1857) is the HIGH leaf variety!! I was amazed that when I used to collect FE cents a few years ago F-VF coins went for around 25$, now I bought these for 35-45$, and that seems to be the average - now THAT would have been an investment!
Can't answer your question accurately. I've only a couple that I found in rolls, would love to have more.
You have 38? What are you trying to do, corner the market? Lol... I think all the 1857 reverses are "high leaf," aren't they? The 1858s have the two reverses, and well as the two obverses. No big difference in price among the four combinations, at least none I'm aware of.
I always loved the FE cent's and would throw out a Miller beer bid on FleaBay and dreaded in the morning BUT won and I just think them cents are the cat's ass - most times I didn't win, but sometimes I did. That is really my favoritist cent that was ever minted!
Well, they're my mostest favoritist, top that! Surprisingly, I think the public didn't like them that much, that's why they didn't never catch on.
Another good book here http://www.fly-inclub.org/eagle_eye.html. Nice coins - keep looking! I think I have 4 - at least that is all I know of. And don't for get to looking for the 1858/7. One I hope to cherry pick one day.
