Oh my God, he didn't buy "another" Rhodes example, did he?!!

=> yup, I scored another sweet Rhodes rose example for the ol' side-collection!!

Fortunately, this sweet new-comer was only a $75-hammer (which was under the initial estimate, so I was happy with my pick-up!!)

This is a big-baby ... 35 mm and over 20 grams of chunk!! (it's gonna feel good in-hand)

Sure, it has a pretty sizeable crack in it, but it has lasted 2000 years, so I'm not too worried about it "structurally" ...

anyway, I hope you like my new bargain-basement Rhodes example

ISLANDS off CARIA, Rhodos. Rhodes. Æ Drachm
    Early-mid 1st century AD
    Diameter: 35 mm
    Weight: 20.73 grams
Obverse: Antigonos, magistrate. Radiate head of Dionysus left, wearing ivy wreath
Reverse: Nike right on rose, holding wreath and palm frond
    Reference: RPC I 2756; BMC 364
Other: 2h … earthen green patina, crack running along reverse edge

Wow, Steve, nice collection of Rhodes. My favers were your last two...the Archaic and the later AR... I would like those.

Me? I looked everywhere in my collection... I have none, zip, nil, null, void, zero, ZILCH Rhodes! I reckon I would be a Rhode-Apple for not having any.

I did get a really cool one from Aesernia today.

LOL, WITHOUT using your glasses, and WITHOUT looking at your pic... Please READ out loud the names of those Magistrates! Wow, with that coin being so tiny, and there are a LOT of letters in that Magistrates line... Why did the cellator even bother to put their names on the coin?! :) :) :)

I do like the coins of Rhodes, my only example:

Rhodes C. 175-150 BC, hemidrachm, head of Helios 3/4 right / rose in incuse square with grapes.
