I just recently moved to Rockville, MD. Are there any good coin clubs or stores out there that I should look up? I've done my basic internet research but if anyone lives in the area that has any recommendations on where to go and where to avoid, I'd appreciate it.
I live in Laurel. The nearest that I have found around here is Golden Eagle. They are...meh...Depends on what you are looking for. I've heard of a few down closer to you and have also heard mixed reviews. Sorry this prolly doesn't help much. Welcome to MD though!
There is Arundel coin and card shop on Baltimore Annapolis Blvd in Glen Burnie , down the street in the heart of Glen Burnie there's a shop that sells coins and collectables . There's Maryland coin exchange but only by appointment so that sucks. There's a couple of shops in Annapolis . You may also want to check out Savage Mills.
I live near Savage Mills. They have 2 coin "booths". I think they are owned by the same guy. Some nicer stuff but kinda pricey. I've not heard anything good about Arundel coin though I haven't been there to see for myself.
I deal with Jim all the time.... at Arundel no problem at all. The shop been there for over 50 years.
I was born in Rockville, but I haven't lived there since the early 70's. I heard some years ago on the NGC forums that there was a coin club in Montgomery Co. out near Shady Grove. If you go to the NGC home page, you can use their Dealer Directory for free. Chris
Just did a search for that area. There's one in Ellicott City, MD. Balitmore Coin & Jewelry Exchange. 10194 Baltimore National Pike (Rt 40) #104, Ellicott City, MD 21042 Maybe some of the guys in MD have heard of this one and can recommend it.
@Seattlite86 Here is the link for the dealer directory. Just enter the city/state and it will give you a list of all dealers from nearest to farthest in miles. https://www.ngccoin.com/services/dealer-listing.aspx
True the Russian is hard to deal with, I haven't seen him the last two visits . Just ask To Speak to Jim. Go down the road to where Crain Hwy and B&A meet check out the shop there. There's also a comic book store around the corner .
There's also a shop in Annapolis not far off rt 50. At Parole . It's behind a Shoppers food store. It's between West st. And Taylor drive. Mount Vernon coins is their name.
