Those are much better pics. The MM looks good, the third arrow points to the right place. Looks good to me, but it could use a bath in some VerdiCare, IMO. Nice coin!

Thanks for taking a look. Much appreciated. Guess I'll look into getting some VerdiCare...

Very nice coin, definitely not AU though more like XF40. I'd second the VerdiCare however I think it would still grade as is.

In regard to VerdiCare, is it okay to use that if I'm considering getting the coin certified by PCGS or NGC? I've heard so many stories about people getting coins back from TPGs as "cleaned". Just want to confirm that VerdiCare isn't an issue as far as the TPGs are concerned.

I'm not sure about TPGs grading after verdicare, but make sure it's properly dried after treatment so it doesn't stand out too much. Pad it down safely and remove excess gloss

I've used it and gotten a straight grade. If too much sheen rinse with distilled water or acetone. Coin a solid xf 40 in my book well worth grading. Pcgs has it at $700 in 40

Great! Thanks for the tips. All the comments from everyone is very much appreciated. I ordered a bottle of VerdiCare--it's on the way. I actually have a number of other far less valuable coins that could use a VerdiCare treatment, and will serve as good application testers. Plus, I never do anything without extensive research (hence my posting here on CoinTalk) and actually reading the directions on the bottle, so I'll definitely proceed with extreme caution in my "conservation" efforts.

Also, BTW, given the consensus so far, it's sounding like I got a really good deal on the coin in question. Certainly has made my month! :)

@jfm9561: Regarding VerdiCare, soaking the coin in it does not constitute "cleaning" according to the TPGs. I would not even pat the coin dry... just rinse in distilled water or acetone afterwards.

@Smojo: Your coin looks off to me. I'm thinking it might be cast, due to the surface appearance. Can you also post a picture of the reverse?

@Smojo -- Glad to hear you figured out what was wrong with uploading your pics.

@Paul M. -- Thanks again for all the great information! I'll post updated pics after the VerdiCare treatment. Currently waiting on my order to arrive...
