is this a mint error on shield reverse cent?

    Hi all, just curious here again. I found this cent, I think is a mint error. if you look at the stripe in the shield on the far left, it appears to meet the ribbon without the line going through the stripe. like an optical illusion. do you think this is an engraving error? just curious. it doesn, stripe into ribbon cent.jpg t look right to me.

    Thanks, Guess its just a design flaw then. I cant imagine designing this coin intentionally like this. But, I suppose stranger things have happened with mint designs...

    Good eye! You're looking for anomalies in the right places. Keep an eye out for stuff like this as well:

    Nice, wow your on top of your game there. I assume a struck through grease? and a cracked die. I,ll keep an lookout for sure...

    No, not struck thru grease. Plating blisters. But you're got the right idea.

    If you look carefully at the top of the ribbon it seems to be part of the left-hand column, a design error that Escher might like, and pulls away gradually until it is well away by the time it gets to the right. Old49er was sharp in spotting it.
