I originally was gonna show this to Superdave only, but decided to show it to the rest of you fine folks. Interesting die cracks that aren't matching up over on vam world. I sorta made arrows to mark the distinguishing cracks. What vam do I have here ? A new discovery or a later die state of an existing vam? IMAG1599_1.jpg IMAG1582_1_1.jpg IMAG1590.jpg IMAG1592_1.jpg I didn't photo the scribble zone because there are no scribbles hardly.

Most die cracks usually aren't mentioned in the VAM listings. Did you check the number of berries on the wreath? Did you check for overlapping reeds?

I checked for berries, it's a 16 berry D2 reverse. I checked for overlapped reeds and I looked at all the scribbles images.
I normally don't ask for vam help, but even the best of the best hit road blocks sometimes:sorry:

OK, my forehead is bruised from beating it against things. :)

The two obverse cracks are uncommon and ought to be strong hints, once they're found on a known VAM.

Yea, I'm almost mad at myself for re-visiting this one. What I thought would be easy to figure out is a Pandora box.Disregard the clump on the obverse S BTW. It fell off when it was in my pocket just now.

I'm severely limited by the lack of bandwidth in my Internet connection; otherwise I wouldn't mind wandering through the relevant VAMs looking for those cracks. Chances are the first image you see of either of the cracks I mentioned will be the right variety, although I recall maybe the cap crack is repeated on more than one.

I really admire you VAM guys. These things make my head swim!

Well Dave, I would appreciate it if you ever get a minute/internet speed to stroll over to Vam world. There's a couple other slam dunk die cracks on this that I didn't even show. A displaced field break, viewers left obverse stars, diamond shaped(sort of) displaced field break between the E & P obverse.

I wish it were that easy, I spent about an hour -ish, 1st going thru the cracks, then listings, then the scribbles. I wouldnt be here if I didn't, that's why I don't have high hopes for the outcome of this thread:oops:

Come on Heavy it's got to be one of the vams or a new discovery , worst case scenario you become an alcoholic :hungry:

At one time, I had 150 raw 1921's that were MS63-65. Now you know why I sold all of them!

Chris, I would love to stumble across a hoard of '21 choice unc Morgan's.I would cherry the neck out of em for nice ones.... All the way up to MS64, these coins can be downright ugly.

I get about 10Kbps at home; this thread takes 3-4 minutes to load when I'm not leeching Wifi. :)

It's taken me two months so far to convince Comcast that they serve my building - when two of my neighbors already do business with them - and I can see their Headquarters building from my window. Now I'm awaiting them to rebuild the main connection into the building, and soon I'll be able to actually participate in grading threads without keeping a book handy to read during page loads. :)
