Found these in a bag of Ike's. There were at least 4 other "copies" and 2 I'm not sure about but probably fake. But I have never seen a fake commemorative before so is it real or fake? there are 2 but I only included close up of one
"Fake" in the general sense, but by the apparently now-accepted definition, they're "fantasy" pieces of the type usually deemed worthy of ridicule due to who they were, or were not, made by.
It's a very common "fantasy" piece. Technically not a fake because it's of a date that never existed, but it's also not a genuine commemorative. It looks like a very bad cast piece, probably not even silver.
yea, that's pretty much what I thought too. but I had never seen a "copy" or counterfeit of a comm before. They aren't a high ticket item, so guess they are not much of a target for fakes.
also, curious, what metal is use for these fakes? it is not attracted to a magnet and the weight is pretty close
Hard to say without seeing them in hand. Maybe it's even silver. Try dripping a drop of bleach onto it and see if the spot where the bleach lands turns black almost immediately. If so, that's a strong indication it's silver, or at least silver plated.
