Hey everyone! I attended the PNNA show yesterday and picked up a few coins. It was my first time at the Tukwila, WA location. I had a great time and saw lots of dealers I had not seen before.

I only brought home 3 coins but it was very much worthwhile.

The first is a BU 1941-S FS-503 Large S Washington Quarter.

Followed by a very nice 1945-S Micro S Mercury Dime.

And then this 1926-S Mercury Dime for $2.00!!

I'm seriously thinking about sending in the Quarter and 45-S micro S dime for grading and attribution. What are your opinions on grades for those two?

That's what I was thinking as well. It wouldn't be by NGC standards, but PCGS should be all day.. I'm hoping it could go MS65 FB at PCGS.

That would be a score, I think you could even get a 66 out of it if they focus on mainly the obverse, the scratch on the right on the reverse if the only thing that I see that would keep it at a 65.

How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking. Was it a cherrypick?

Nice... I couldn't make it down this year. Wife out of town and two kids in baseball. Maybe next year.

It was a bit of a Cherrypick. I don't normally go for Micro S Merc's because I come across them all the time. This one however, was in a 2x2 marked as a 1943-S and marked for $10.00. After looking it over, I just had to buy it for the condition and the full bands. The quarter came from the same dealer. I paid $29.00 for the quarter and $10.00 for the '45-S dime.

@Garlicus Thank you for the compliments on my photography. I really appreciate it.

@jensenbay I wasn't able to make it up last spring but I made it happen this time around. I would have loved to have gone back today, but I had to work and it's a 2 and half hour drive each way for me. The PNNA will have another show in the Fall here in Portland.

The quarter I would say is probably a 64 due to the slightly mushy reverse and blobby mint mark. The 45-S dime, I would say it maxes out at 65 FB at PCGS due to the reed mark right across the faces.

    Great coins!

The Fall Portland show is the bigger one, the Spring Tukwila show is only about 40% the size (sort of like the ANA shows). But it's a good bunch.

The interesting thing about the PNNA shows is that they really are regional. Only a few dealers from outside the area. Two this year, NY and VA... a handful from CA.

    Sorry I missed it...

Numismatic definitions flourish with esoteric abbreviations, making me scurry around to find out that FB is exclusive for Mercury's full bands on its fasces.
Is there a comprehensive listing of these?

It felt about the same size maybe a bit smaller than the PNNA in Portland from last Fall. There were definitely different dealers at this show that I did not see at the Portland show.

I'd love to meet anyone at the Fall show this year if any of you are planning on going.

    There are quite a few...

FB or FSB - for Full Bands or Full Split Bands on Mercury Dimes.
FB or FT - for Full Band PCGS or Full Torch NGC on Roosevelt Dimes.
FS - for Full Steps on Jefferson Nickels
FH - for Full Head on Standing Liberty Quarters
FBL - for Full Bell Lines on Franklin Half Dollars

This next one is not official and it should be the next adopted in my opinion.
FT - for Full Thumb on Walking Liberty Half Dollars.

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks Paul. The quarter is hammered pretty well. It looks the way it does because of the reverse die was worked over a lot. The fields have heavy tool marks especially above the eagle. The "S" mintmark looks that way on all examples, it's indicative of that particular mint mark.

I do agree with you on the grading of the quarter and dime though.
