Here are a couple of known counterfeits from a Chinese wholesale site:

I need one, but wouldn't buy one unholdered, unless from a trusted dealer. Too many bunkos out there........

Start by looking at the lettering on the OP coin and the real one that was posted.

 

Out of the horse's mouth (compare the heads of the equines too).
As ldhair points out, the lettering on the genuine coin is thin and crisp. On the fakes it is always fat and rounded.

 

I actually knew this coin was counterfeit, and did when I aquired it. This coin has doubling on it that has been identified as a characteristic of a series of fakes. I saw it at first glance, and although the seller wouldn't admit that he knew it was fake, when I offered him 20 bucks for it, he took it.
