While it is in the Mint's best interest to sell as much as they can as quickly as possible, they should also do what they can to avoid the scalping of their products. A product limit of even 5 per household would have likely gotten this little coin to last through the first hour or longer. How many 'collector' needed 10 of these, really? I have a feeling that the lack of MCM (and others) buy-for-us offers was because the limit was set high enough for them to buy 100's with just their own staff and friends/family. I did got mine ordered, so I'm happy. The Mint still hasn't released sales information. Once they get payment confirmations and process any cancellations, there might be a few more that become available. Its worth paying attention for the next week or so to see how it all plays out.
Well I just talked to the mint on the phone and they said they're making another batch to satisfy some of the late back orders such as mine. So 125k will not be the final mintage limit. I asked how many more they were making and she did not know. But there was only a brief window at the end to get on the back order list. Like I said I tried to order more but they went to sold out by the time I tried to place an order immediately after the first. This is "assuming" this customer service rep knows what's going on. The back order list could be for cancellations but who knows. Sent from my XT1093 using Tapatalk
Likely the phone rep had no idea what they were talking about and the mint is just minting the remaining number of the unminted coins from that 125K. I recall someone claiming something similar via a phone rep back to the RP C&C sets and the mint never went back and minted more than the announced final mintage they just minted the remaining coins to complete the previously announced total mintage. If they did do such a thing it would be class action lawsuit city.
I would give this about a .01% chance of being accurate. Possibly they did not mint all 125k at first, or possibly they did not have all packaging ready to go, but to mint MORE than the set amount would be dumb dumb dumb. The call representatives hardly ever know what they are talking about.
They may also be adjusting HH limits. Who knows? There's no way they couldve acted fast enough or had anybody making decisions on the fly as quickly as they went. Id assume the ability to adjust HH limit clause was put in there for a situation such as what took place. The drama continues... Sent from my XT1093 using Tapatalk
Mine is still processing. I was a little later, ~9:12am. Out of a possible 125k, I'm prolly towards to bottom. Hoping for a ship date early next week.
Maybe they actually did not produce all 125K for Day 1? This could explain quick sell out. Order numbers could be for other items. Who knows? They cannot raise mintage above 125K regardless of what you were told.
Received email notification today. Mine "shipped" around 5pmET. Woo-hoo! Two coins, 4121xxx. Estimated delivery is Wed 4/27.
