Good morning Would some give an opinion on this 1986 s Proof Lincoln. I believe it to be strike or machine doubling and wanted to confirm it. Secondly, (not for value) but is it fairly common in the proofs for the 1980's. As always I appreciate your opinions. With regards to the photos it is somewhat challenging to photo through the plastic on the proof sets and apologize up front if the lighting, focus, or angle is bad. Still learning the Macro photo techniques and would really like opinions on a relatively good yet not break the bank camera Respectfully
Actually not trying to take at an angle, the celestron 5mp that I used had a couple of clips used to hold down slides that were slightly in the way, and canted the holder die to its size. Ordinarily I would not try to shoot at an angle. I was apologizing for the angle shot. Since I do not view slides but coins on the device I think I will try to remove the clips
Are your photos taken through the mint lens? If so, I'd have to say the reflection from the lens gives the appearance of doubling. Try taking the photos without the lens in the way.
I would have thought that the makers of the Celestron would be smart enough to use removable clips. That is what my Pac-Sci stereomicroscope uses. Chris
You would have thought so, just looked at it to see if they are removable and they are not without some surgery. One hit against celestron
Mint lens?? Not sure I understand, some lingo/Jargon I am unfamiliar with, would you explain? The reflection could be that the coins are still in the proof set plastic. Nor sure I can get a better picture.
