Bought it raw. I believe it's at least a 58. It'll be heading in for grading with my next quarter batch. image.jpeg image.jpeg

I don't know much about grading these but my gut says maybe low au. It has definitely been dipped before but the tpg will probably straight grade it

Hard to say, but I'd guess 55. Have you given it a bath in acetone and/or xylene yet? I'm wondering if that dark stuff is crud or toning.

I don't think it's ever been dipped. Looks like an un-messed-with 58 to me.

Don't have it in hand yet. This is the sellers image.

I've only owned a ms63 and a xf40 seated quarter, and this appears above that. I know it's got some marks but it doesn't look like a lot of wear. I guess it could be a 55. Can't wait to see it in hand.

I'll wait to see your images. The sellers make it look like a problem.

Don't know where everyone else is coming from but I would say at the best VF 35 or EX 40. What did the seller say?

Funky surfaces I'm in the 53-55 range if not cleaned

+2. The talons are still quite strong, and no wear seems to yet show on either shield. I'll withhold opinion on the surfaces until your own images appear; these are deceptive.

My opinion, no grade - AU Details or Genuine slab.

Coins that have that "look", were typically toned extremely dark or almost solid black at one time, and then dipped or over-dipped. It could have been the toning itself that destroyed the luster, or ate away at the surfaces. Or it could have been over-dipping that did it. But when they have that "look", one or the other has usually happened.

I'd say likely AU Details. If it grades, then AU53. Where are you submitting it?

Since the obverse carries the weight of the grade, I looked there for wear. The stars are flat from 11 o"clock till 2 o"clock and weak on each star on either side. I cannot see or read any of the individual letters of "Liberty" on the shield. The drapery detail is not clear at all, especially from the neck down to the waist. And Liberty's upper right arm lacks detail as well. The reverse is in better shape but that doesn't offset the discrepancies I just pointed out. I also see the concern on the coins features which indicate dipping. It may not get a numeric grade but I would like to hear back on the details grade. I'll still stand by my opinion. VF35 or XF40.

I won't stick my neck out with a grade estimate, but I can barely read the LIBERTY on the shield.

I have no clue on this coin. I can see so many ways this could go. I doubt it would reach to AU-58 though.

I would think 50/53 would be ok depending upon surface condition.

Surface looks completely lifeless though, and this is a pretty common date to pick and choose on, I would have likely passed on this coin.
