I NEVER clean or polish coins but I have a few 1942 walkers, I decided as they have the second highest mintage of all walkers I would polish one (just one) up and carry it around...for luck dont ya know... It is a beautiful coin and the reason I collect is for personal enjoyment, and I do enjoy this coin!
Here's my 1882 o/s vam-3 pocket piece. This was taken in October when I first got it. The coin has been MIA for a couple weeks but it's around here somewhere...
I currently carry too Franklin half dollars 1952 and a 1963. Both unfortunately got polished at some point but the 63' is almost at the point were you couldn't tell from a naked eye inspection. The 52' though is polished so bad it's going to take a long long time for any progress.
I carry a 1923 Peace Dollar. I am about a year into silver. I asked for some Morgan's at a coin store He showed 4 Morgan's and two Peace. I snapped them up. Paid too much for melt value, but I have some silver and I can handle this. My other pieces, I do not touch, do not "clean" or anything. I was going crazy, wanting to handle some silver. I am 66 and felt like a kid. John D
These are my pocket pieces. Had the cross cent since I graduated high school. It's my year. The IHC is the second one I ever found in circulation. It comes with me where I go. The half dollar was the only non silver coin in a hoard I found at a bank. I told myself I would carry it for good luck. This is the EDC knife my dad carried. Comes with me too. The lighter... Always carry a fire starter.
I like having something interesting and some silver on me. Currently I'm carrying these in my left pocket And these in my right
1869 half dollar. Beat to heck so i figured i could carry it around. Also carry a leatherman skeletool. Best knife ive ever carried.
I always carry a 1893 barber quarter with me where ever I go. I bought it years ago from a bid board for less than melt at my lcs. It had apparently been in some sort of book or something as it had some old glue on the obverse. No one else wanted it, so I snatched it up cheap. The glue came right off and constant fidgeting has shined it up nicely. I'm trying to return it to a planchet eventually hahaha. -JB
All my coins are kept in a safe place. This goes with me everywhere, and conversely takes me anywhere. It's the only thing I ever carry in my pocket.
"Blue" Ike (40% silver). Not-so-nice in Mint-fresh condition. So now it's my pocket piece. In 30 years it'll be a true rarity -- a well-worn uncirculated silver Ike.
Right now in my pocket are a 2013 ASE and 1964 Kennedy half. Also in the rotation are an 1883-O Morgan, 1926-S Peace (holed), and 1983-S proof Olympic dollar that I bought raw and impaired from the LCS. Not at all crazy about the Olympic games of any year, but I was born in '83.
