I carry a Peace Dollar. I got into silver and was going crazy because I could not "handle" it. I carry a Peace Dollar that has melt vallue. someone 'cleaned' it in the past, so when I was new, I paid too much for it. ha ha John D
Two Peace dollars, S 1922 and 1923. One is poorly toned. They are from my dad's hoard and I generally take them in hand and rub them together when stressed or bored.
Although I don't use it as a pocket piece, I have shared my 1794 large cent with students in history classes.
I carry a '22 Peace Dollar, '37 Walker, '46 Washington and '39 Merc. I love the jingle of silver in my pocket.
I always thought pocket pieces are for the long haul, but I tend to use one or a few for a month or so, then change it up.
I travel domestic and international a lot. I hang a AGE .10 and .25 around my neck with a fitbit. Feel like it is good luck and insurance in a pinch.
Trivia question: What literary character carried two ball bearings in his pocket and pulled them out and rattled them together when stressed?
I used to have a early 1900's Cuban silver coin as a pocket piece and then lost it. With my luck the only way I would carry a pocket piece is as a coin fob attached to my keys. And for me it has to be a silver coin, at least 100 years old
Some here. Right after 9/11, when I was traveling internationally, I got stopped by TSA (or who ever it was) at JFK and they wanted to confiscate it. The guy was actually taking it off my key chain. I asked him what the hell he was going? He said he was taking the P-38 for security reasons. I grabbed it out of his hand and said, like hell you are! Obviously, they weren't going to let me thru security with it. I got on of line, went back to the unsecure area and mailed it home. From that day on, I left it at home every time I was traveling.
Honestly, nary a problem! I never take it off! However, I have also graduated to the "speed lane" for frequent travellers. But, even before that, or even at the smaller airports, I have never had to remove it. Odd...
