Is the T and Y doubled in LIBERTY? If not, why does the top of the T look thicker than the bottom of the T? Also the Y seems to be thicker and slightly curved on the right.
You can't see the T being thicker than the rest of the letters? I was just wondering if it is from wear or why it is thicker.
Probably from die wear or deterioration Sheila . As the die is used the flow of metal on the coin causes wear on the devices , it happens more on old coins that used open collars . Like Bust halves where the stars are gradually lengthened to the edge . IMHO .
That looks fairly normal for a 73. A hint that has helped me over the years is to put together a collection of normal coins in the range of dates and mints you habitually search . Most of the detailed closeup photos you will see in books and on the Web are of coins that are abnormal in some way and of little use when you are asking the question "is my coin normal or not ?". I still use my little blue coin folders when I notice a design detail that I hadn't picked up on before
