Well, some of you were right and some of you were wrong.

Maybe 1 coin would have made it easier but since these were all on the same 8 coin submission, I thought I'd share them all.

In order of appearance in the 1st post:

    MS65
    MS65
    MS65
    MS64

    Cert Numbers:

    80450266
    80450267
    80450268
    80450269

Needless to say, I was not very pleased with the 71-D's anf, comparing the MS66 in the Heritage photo, not please with the 71's but then, nothing PCGS does anymore pleases me. Frankly, the only reason I continue to enroll in the collectors club annually is for the 8 free gradings (which really aren't very free) and access to the pop reports and price guide.

Of course, pops and prices are available for free through the Set Registry BUT, I still get the Platinum Membership at the grandfathered price of $199 instead of the regular $249 per year.

Maybe next year I'll break free of my "addiction"??

Ouch lee. I'm totally in agreement with you about pcgs. Though im.usually satisfied with.the grades they give. That hurts! What kids do they have grading ikes? The only reason I continue my enrollment every year now is to get the free 8 plus free admission to long beach and the vegas members only shows. Messydesk's bulk subs are so cheap I have no need to sub to pcgs much anymore since I mostly sub morgans anyway. I use the 8 for higher end morgans I don't want in a bulk sub and maybe 1 or 2 subs through the year for non morgan/peace coins. I'm really questioning those ikes. What a rip off!

  9. Wow you got robbed on the 71D's. I knew the 71P's wouldn't grade above 65. That second 71P had a shot at 66 so I gave it a 65+. Still nice coins for sure.

Wow, that's pretty tough. I have no idea how they can justify that.

My guess is they fear paying out so the jump to 66 and beyond on an ike is something they don't like to give out. That "66" posted earlier had to be a heritage submission imo. That's why I don't like to buy high grade coins in new holders when I shop at heritage unless I'm damn sure of the true grade. With older holders you can be reasonably confident that heritage didn't submit it.

To late to guess grades I see. But nice coins!

While I agree with you in theory, the price guide should have no influence on the assignment of a technical grade of a coin.

Yeah, and big auction houses shouldn't get preferential treatment in terms of generous grading but we live in reality

Can't argue with you there @Cascade, but that doesn't make the practice any easier to accept and it further contributes to my want for the good old days when the big TPGs didn't exist at all. Oh the horror, we'd have to learn something about the coins we want rather than just collect plastic.

Gorgeous coins, no matter what the grade. I thought PCGS was a bit low on them..I would have thought 66 and 67 as more like it, but then again, they see more Ikes than I do. LOVE THEM anyway.

When did I offer an opinion about Ikes? I don't usually have the guts for that. :)

If we assume the Philly coins are accurately graded - and I only agree with the first, the "grey/blue" obverse one - then the Denver coins are stupendously undergraded. It's as if PCGS is applying Half Dime standards to Crown-size coins.

Each and every one of them are beautiful coins. Ikes tone as nicely as any issue ever, and these are proof.

I'm a dummy! I was like "huh" then I went back and just realized I thought bigtee was you at first for some reason then counted him twice. Must be the purple bar below and black background of both avatars at the size of half a breath mint on my phone :banghead::chicken:
