What were you doing in 1977 ?

Cool coins. I was in high school, chasing a football and girls, and less we forget, mourning the loss of Elvis. Bought my first ride, a '66 Ford pickup. I still have it.

By coincidence, Paddy, I mentioned to one of the other members that I believe the grading services use the term "Struck Thru" improperly. When I see the term used in this manner, I usually ask "Struck through what?" However, if I don't know what material was responsible for it, I think of it in its generic form, "Strikethrough".

I was 14 and own a dodge dart, ya 14 ....

 

1977 doing post-graduate work in NYC (Brooklyn Poly) and trying to decide what next. Driving an old Ford Maverick (Ugg) that I registered in New Jersey at a friend's cousin's address because I couldn't afford NYC insurance.

 

The dart is back baby. My brother bought one when they came out and quickly traded it back in for a Silverado lol

 

My was sport, with a 340 .
Nothing street legal could catch it in the quarter mile .

Watch-out for the 440 Cuda, with duel quads, purple in color .....

Built in Hamtramck Michigan, even the frame painted purple .
One bad ass car

 

1977. Still endangering my family with the chemistry set, spending long hours out at night with the telescope, and fiddling with electronics. Starting to pine for what passed for a "home computer" at the time (4K RAM, 1MHz processor, storage on cassette tapes). That, and reading a heck of a lot.

 

In college playing basketball, preparing to be drafted into the NBA. I got drafted in 1978, but alas, didn't make the squad. No worries, I got married instead.

 

I do remember Pirates Den as well as the Purple Moose OC hot spots. In Annapolis it was O'Brian's, in Savannah it was Spankie's, or O'Leary's....down on River st.
Moving yachts up and down the East coast and Caribbean way too many bars to remember . I enjoyed that but TG it grew old quick or most probably I wouldn't of...

 

One of my HS buddies mother had..key word had....a 65 Dodge Dart 225 slant 6 , the first year He had his license we put 45 k on that car. Ran it on 1 Qt. oil . But it was a great car. 4 of us running rt 50 back and forth to the beach at 80+ mph........

 

My father had a '66 from when I was born until it died in '83, or so. Then he bought another, which may have been a '65. On more than one occasion there were up to 8 people in that car (obviously before seatbelt laws, haha, and I was probably in my mother's lap). I remember coming home from high school one day to find him in the back yard painting it with Rustoleum (brush not spray), lol. Looked good from 10ft and farther away.

 

That slant six engine was the bomb! For a 6 cly. It ran like a top! 225 Cu in. I also had a buddy with a 340 duster.
But the 68 road runner was the machine when it came to mopar.

 

I got married in 77.

 

Those slant straight six cylinders, would run for ever .

 

My friend still owns his 69 superbee, came with a 383 ...

 

This is the roadrunner I remember, I love the 1970 dodge muscle car .

 

I just saw a sweet Coronet 440 at the gas station Thursday.

 

I laughed so hard with your father paint job .
O-how it brings back memories, I painted a couple of cars with the roller too ....

 

I live in Michigan and we have so many old cars here ..
