Best way is to go on vam world forums, someone there will have a correct answer for you, or post them there ...

Let's wait and see what John thinks. In the interim, compare yours with the detail images Insider provided.

You intrigue me now, Insider. :)

It appears the coin I have and your coin are from the same dies = VAM#47.

However, VAM World only shows the "8" which matches our coins. THERE MAY BE ANOTHER DIE COMBINATION NOT YET LISTED. It is no big deal to me. As I said, there are probably 100's of these around.

If I were you, I would send it back to PCGS and pay for an attribution. Then put that rare coin on Ebay listed as RARE & R-5!

Like Chris said, Leroy is the only person who can do new vams ..

  6. I bought this coin and I don't have a membership with PCGS

Why is that? Because I'm too lazy to spend time looking up a "worthless" variety until you pulled the "hat trick" and ID it? Now $$$$:greedy::greedy::greedy::greedy::greedy:

  8. After comparing my other coins with the date, the upper part of the 1 looks bigger. We might be on to something

Messydesk - John Baumgart, President of the Society of Silver Dollar Collectors and a major player in VAMming, as well as a poster here. That's why I pinged him in this thread.

Then let a PCGS dealer send it in or send it to ANACS. If you send it to GreatExpectations Auction they send it for you and will sell it and then they deduct expense so NO out-of-pocket for you. Ain't Coin Talk Great!

Perhaps this just isn't clicking, but what would you need a membership for?

PCGS won't attribute it anyway, and even if they did, they'd likely get it wrong. No idea why PCGS should be involved.

  13. I thought you have to have a membership to submit

  14. How much money would this be worth if it was that VAM

There would be no premium for the VAM. I don't think as much as 10% of VAMs carry a premium for their existence.

And why are you worried about PCGS?

 Because its in their slab already. Don't those losers in CA do VAMS?

Perhaps OP should not send anywhere as grade is MAXED way out :joyful: Just put a sticker on it as VAM#47 and sell it to a collector :bucktooth:.

Send it to Leroy, it's 5 bucks and he's the only one that can add it as a new vam ..................................

  18. If u guys don't think it's a VAM then what's the point here

They do List stuff (some of it) only, and that poorly. And charge an arm and a leg for it. And I'm quite agreed on the grade.

Messydesk will do that sticker on an existing slab you're referring to as part of his VARSlab business.

Please don't. It's not a new VAM, and Leroy's got enough to do. Please, folks, filter "new" stuff through the experts at VAMworld first.

Where are you getting that from?

Somebody else do this. I'm getting a headache.
