You'll have a hard time proving that it is a penny blank (not a planchet) even if it weighs the same as a normal cent. Trust me! I've submitted blanks before, but if you have no way of proving that it came from the Mint, you're SOL! Chris
So if it is a planchet it will have a rim as they are machine struck WITH the rim getting ready to to get struck as a coin!!
I just noticed - it's the dude that takes photos on paper with the blue lines! Kinda like notebook paper!!
Type 1 blanks are before they are put in the upset mill. They have no raised rim. Type 2 blanks do have a raised rim.
Type 1 blanks will also be slightly larger than type 2 planchets. Problem is any firm can punch blanks out of copper strip to proper size.
