    Ok I've been working on this puppy for several hours now. I must confess I am a little frustrated. Let me know if you need any other PUP's to determine but I can't find this style of an S/S on Vam world . I don't see an over date ,and I'm 100 % sure it's an Large S. 1880 S S Morgan.jpg 1880 S Morgan MM S S-crop.jpg 1880 S S Morgan date 1-crop.jpg 1880 S S Morgan date 3.jpg 1880 S S Morgan MM 2-crop.jpg

These will drive you nuts I have 3 now one graded ms 64 I believe to be a vam 12, one raw and one raw and toned I purchased from Alan. The one graded I'm pretty sure being correct , the raw one in hand is driving me crazy and I can't wait for the other to show up and send me over the edge. LoL

80-S is not an easy one. You have large S centered and upright. It only sort of looks tilted to the left because the punch is a bit malformed. The date is the next place I'd look. The 1 and first 8 tend to get doubling on the surface, and looks like you might have something here, but I can't be sure from the pictures. The second 8 is almost always doubled at the lower left outside of the top loop, so that won't help. The 0 on you coin does not look doubled, at least not on the top, where you usually see the doubling showing up as "pincers." Look for doubled peripheral lettering on the reverse. I don't think you have a repunched mint mark.

Thanks Messy this will most probably be one of two 1880-S I send you. I have 2 raw that I'm going to have graded.
The mm matches the 72 vam wasn't sure if it was a true S/S . As far as doubling on peripheral lettering this one doesn't the toned one does. I plan to give this one another going over as soon as my eyes calm down lol. Thanks again for your input .

I will have a look during Miller time for sure tonight, I have a feeling this this one will end up on a very messy desk eventually, but I'll try my luck.... :watching:

Cracking open a Miller over one coin? Imagine what I'm knocking back after someone sends me a roll of these.

These 80's are enough to make you drink the hard stuff! I think they should come with a 5th of Tequila, or Grey Goose.

I agree, but they never do. Perhaps it's because the post office frowns on you sending that in the mail.

Well @Paddy54 , it's Miller time, and maybe this is the Miller talking, I am just getting ready to head over to the vam mothership, but I believe you are gonna hafta do a contest with this one or the other one, and, whoever wins gets a 12 pack....:troll:

My 1st Impression is that it's one of those couple few vams in that family, possibly 72,
The comical part, is that my 1st thought was Vam 90 on that last one, which shares that same reverse die.....

These are unreal hard to attribute just when you think you nailed it.... something is throwing you off.

Well I'm way more confident in this, than I was about the other one, but at least the other one had some doubled features, to go off of, just needed more better photos
