My Dad bought the 1988 Suburban new. Now has 175,000 miles on it. The 350 V8 engine still runs like a Swiss watch and has never been rebuilt. The rest of it looks a little bit "degraded". It is actually my wife's daily driver. I sort of told her a few years ago that it would have to suffice as her daily driver for a little while. I thought she was going to hate it. But she actually likes it, and still drives it every day. She can take our dog in it and nobody cares if the vehicle gets dirty or dinged. She's not the type to want to have to worry about keeping a car nice. Such is the benefit of a "beater".
I really like these centennial rounds, but I'm saving my money for the Whitman Expo. I'll probably pick up a set after the show if they are still available.
I purchased a new one in 1976, that thing lasted 15 years. The last 5 years I used it as an urban assault vehicle, people would move out of the way when the saw it. Dang that was fun. One time in Laredo, TX I pulled in between 2 parked cars, it was so tight I had to clime out the back window.Sure miss that thing
The 1988 Suburban has the original TBI (throttle body injection) system, which is sort of like a hybrid between a carburetor and modern (port) fuel injection systems. It is more like fuel injection than carburetion, but the throttle body is like a big 2-bbl carburetor. So no 4-barrel on this one. All my other older cars do have a 4-barrel carburetor, and the secondaries are bigger than the primaries, which yields a good compromise of decent fuel economy when you have a light foot, but strong performance (at the expense of fuel economy) with a heavy foot.
Back to the centennials, my satin set just arrived. Wow! Stunning! My pics do not do them justice. Any marks are on the flips not the coins. Great work Daniel! Off to ANACS they go. TC
More copies with a thread that is now nothing more than unpaid advertisement . With open sales . Hey Mr. Carr do I get a cut for helping you promote your copies ?
I'm glad that people like them and post about them. But I have no control over that and I have NEVER asked anyone to make such posts on my behalf. You are quite late to this party. Even the early-birds didn't get a royalty. But maybe I'll send you a zinc Lincoln cent I found with my metal detector ?
People start threads and post pics of their most recent US Mint purchases all the time. It is well within forum rules. If you do not like the topic of a thread, simply don't read it.
Now you're going to tell me what to post ? Maybe you don't remember you're old stance . I don't like what you write a lot of times , do I tell you what or don't post .
