john41 Toned coins, I like them. If I have it so can you.

Lehigh Bob (Robec) is next on the list and he has stated that he does not think he will do any better than the others. Bob is a good guy and I like talking with him. I believe his images will be very good but when he told me that there are many more good to great coin photogs now over 5 years ago I have to agree. I know that 5grand is a high number for this coin and that price would be based on marketing by a good auction house and a bid war going on, very unlikely and after fees much less than that. Based on actuall good offers I would say 1200-1500 is where it lies.

Cool, let me know when Bob's photos get posted in the thread. Do you have any plans to cross the coin to either NGC or PCGS?

Lehigh I plan on sending it to PCGS when I actually get it back which could be as late as the first of the year. I am doing that to get it in a newer holder that should be airtight so that I have less of a chance at a bad stability issue. I have other coins to get graded first though, a 1911 MPL that is very nice.

Great photo Bob. I think your photo definitely does justice to the luster better than the others.

Thanks Paul. No question the luster is in full bloom with this coin. I wouldn't say this coin is a black beauty, but it is much darker in hand than it appears in any of the photos. It really comes to life under the lights. I think you would have a great time with it.

The chances of getting someone to answer an 18 month old thread are slim to none. Try a personal message.

If the op is around I wanna see the reverse.

And I can't believe I just read a fight about obvious textile toning. The burlap was slightly crumpled, folded over or the coin was near the top area where it was sewn together.

I'm not sure if he's around any longer. Here is my photo of the reverse of his 1883-O.

Cool thanks. I was hoping for some rev color depending on how it was stored in the bag. Now to do this...
@Dave Waterstraat to give him a colorful 83o Easter treat :)

Thanks for the Easter egg! Many members took some incredible shots of the obverse. Anyone know if fade to black is still around?

So I know to stay away from the PCGS forum. He turned into the most classless troll CCF ever saw.

Any guesses dave? Is the high-1 slant date any help in identifying an 83o?

It's a V52A. The reverse die is so concave you could eat a bowl of cheerios on it. :)
