    Dear Ebay coin sellers,

First of all, take pictures with a half-decent camera.

Second, more importantly, stop using the terms PQ, MS++++++, FULL RED BLAZER, MONSTER TONER, and RARE KEY DATE on common date Morgans.

    Dear Ebay and Ebay Seller:

Effective immediately, you are hereby ordered to CEASE AND DESIST from all asking prices and/or minimum bids and/or reserve prices which exceed the fair market value or recent auction prices by 30% for all coins exceeding $1,000. For coins under $1,000 the limit is set at 50%. For coins under $150, the limit is 100%.

Ebay auctions can sell for any price, but applicable Lemon Laws mandate you not ask outrageous prices for coins when you use BUY IT NOW or similar features.

    Dear Ebay Coin Sellers,

Please do not try to dupe me by posting various items in alternative weight measurements such as troy pound to avoirdupois pound. Use standard weights and measures for coins. :)

We've seen the posts and sales tactics you've tried Sully...

You might make money a few times, but it's not a long term career when you have to use tactics like converting troy pound to avoirdupois pound in hopes that someone doesn't realize it.

You're probably doing it all under the table, and that's fine for a few extra bucks. But when you start considering the cost of running a legitimate business with licenses insurance and taxes - you will see it's a bit harder than it looks from the outside. You will find that your time is the most valuable commodity and the expense of driving around to coin shops will eat it up - as well as gas in the tank. :)

An LCS also knows what he can make on Ebay and the value of time/cost to do it. It may be less hassle to take cash when you walk in the door and in that case you'll get a good deal. As soon as they find out you're doing that - the prices will most likely go up.

I've got my eye on you buddy! o_O

This really does clutter up the listings and makes it necessary to weed through a lot of dreck to find something worth bidding or making an offer on. Ebay could fix the problem very easily by charging a more significant listing fee, or even better, by imposing a fee only if the item doesn't sell during the listing period. It is my understanding that they have done something similar to this to curtail reserve auctions.

This is want list. I'm not sure how this is evil or in any way negative.

We're still on this aren't we? Two points, one that wasn't what I was trying to do and two, metals are measured in Troy units. If you don't understand what those are then you shouldn't be buying coins on eBay.

    I'm not concerned.

When it comes to sellers listing raw coins that are commonly faked, listing their weights in grams is always a good thing for buyers.

Unfortunately, they can also lie about that too.

Or the weight will be correct and the coin still fake.

    Dear eBay seller:

If the picture of the coin you are trying to sell me is clearly an 1880 S Morgan, don't list it as an 1880 S Carson City!!!!

...yes, there is one on there right now. With 3 bids ($15.50), seller rating of 4 with 75% feedback.

I saw that listing, then i looked at the seller's feedback. Most of it is from an account with a rating of 1, giving good feedback for things like "broke pencil" and "pencil eraser" for $.99. it's obviously one of his other accounts. I wouldn't buy anything from that seller, at any price.

The seller is hoping somebody sees it and thinks "this guy doesn't know what he has, I'm going to get it for a steal..." They might realize it's fake once they get it, or they might remain blissfully unaware.

Dear ebay seller, please try to refrain from making a monstrous profit on your common coin by charging ridiculous shipping and "handling" fees.
