Received an email today that the ebay bucks program is having an 8% bonus from today till March 25th at 11:59 pm. If you are buying fashion items there is a larger 16% bonus. Remember that you have to activate the bonus in order to get it.
I'm on it, now if I just can find a nice coin that has been accidentally listed in the fashion section, double bonus.
I wonder if a coin mis-listed in the fashion section would cause eBay to cancel the bonus bucks? Seems like a forum member could, theoretically, ask another forum member to set a particular coin on top of a t-shirt or a piece of costume jewelry...lol
Pretty sure they do. Listened to an older gentleman at the LCS today spend over an hour picking out the perfect bezel for a 1/2 oz gold eagle...and then laughed when they got to checkout and he tried to use a credit card (there are signs clearly stating that they don't sell gold/silver bullion on CC...)
I didn't receive this particular offer, but I have bought bullion using a similar offer in the fashion category, because jewelry is within fashion. I bought a gold coin in a bezel that sold near melt. Here's an interesting one for anyone who might be looking for jewelry: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121906436427 My wife loves opals, but doesn't much care for brooches, or else I might be considering it. I'd also have to ask the seller if the stated 7.7 grams includes the opals.
They don't show up in my eBay messages on the eBay site, where they aren't subject to any spam filtering.
I don't get them either. When I called eBay a few weeks ago about it they said they get sent out randomly, but the customer service rep sounded like he didn't really know how it works either.
Ok I have spent the last 15 minutes reviewing my account settings to see if there is anything that could be preventing me from receiving these wonderful Bucks promotions that everyone gets (except myself and a few others). I would like to share what I did to see if we (the ones not getting the promos) can figure this out once and for all. Anyway, I went to "My Account" and under communication preferences there's a section at the bottom called surveys and promotions. I went ahead and checked the box that says notify me by email with deals etc. I pretty sure in the past I unchecked that box thinking it was only to not receive notifications but not actually exclude me from receiving promos (being in communications preferences and all). It may very well be that only but it could be what is excluding me from being eligible for the Bucks promo (???). Anyway I figure messing with the settings is worth a shot at this point. I will report whether it works or not. If you're like me and are not receiving these promos but would like to, check your settings and please let me know what you have (or change). We can compare our settings to try and figure this out. You can PM me if you prefer. Lastly, I believe that the promos have something to do with the user settings. I think eBays computers determine who to send them to based on the settings (or in large part). It could also be based on buying habits, but I have tested a few things in that regard and none have seemed to work for me. Therefore I'm now playing with the settings to see if that does anything.
Yes, promotions has to be checked in order to receive any such deals. However, checking it does not guarantee you will get every promotion.
Yea I'm starting to think that could be what prevented me from receiving them - at least that's what I hope now. It's weird though because it was under Communications preferences and not under a Promotions category. It makes it seem more like 'how do you want to be notified of promotions' and not so much like 'do you want promotions?'.
The bonus also works on Italian eBay. I won a coin today on the Italian eBay and I received the bonus.
I want email for everything, but I don't want my phone goosing me every time eBay thinks of something. Pretty sure this is the way my settings were arranged when I was still getting offers.
