That would be quite a feat if you could "pop out" the center The whole thing (coin icon and border ring) is struck in one pass on a 39mm 1-troy-oz 999 silver blank. If someone did manage to cut out the center, it would be much thicker than a genuine coin, the edge reeding would probably look strange since it would have to be cut, and the piece would be 999 fine instead of 900 fine as well.
Once I allocate the actual coins to an order I then pass it off to my shipping helper (wife) and mark the order status as "shipped". It was originally intended that a large batch of orders go to the post office earlier. But, as you can see from the video posted above, that will have to wait until tomorrow (Thursday) due to the blizzard this morning. Weather and driving conditions are improving now. Orders up through #11275 have been filled. I'm awaiting the arrival of more silver blanks so that I can mint the medals for the orders placed after that.
Due to the road conditions here today, when they are shipped, they will "come [to the post office] in 4WD".
Glad we can joke. That's progress. Just don't push your luck, Dan. PS: You know, if you can just take back all the bad things you said about me over the years... Lol. Now I'm pushing my luck.
Good to see you on here! These will be my first coins from you, and I look forward to getting them. Any chance for some toned ones later? Also, I LOVE $2 1/2 Indians. What are the chances of doing those or $5 Indians on a 1/2 ounce or 1 ounce coin, like you did these?? I would love that!
Hey glad to hear mine went out in the first wave. Maybe I can get ANACS to put "early releases" or "first strike" on the labels of my satin set. J/K. Looking forward to receiving them. TC
Some do (as aftermarket "conversions"). But even if mine had that, I wouldn't take a nice car out in this. Such duty falls on our 1988 Suburban beater.
Dan, we might have more in common than you think. I drove a 1994 Explorer Sport until a year ago when my lovely wife threatened to dump my sorry butt if I didn't dump it. Well, not exactly, but she hated being seen in it. Needless to say I'm not the type who likes to quit on something just because it's a little old.
Daniel, how about a fantasy CC Morgan for the future? I KNOW that myself, and many of your supporters here on Cointalk would rush to buy it. Have you thought of 1895CC, or an 1886CC????
I don't think he would. Too easy to alter and he's judicious about that. Maybe a 1905cc? I would like to see a 21cc though
Just threw out a couple of dates. 1895 would be a vulnerable one to do. 1886cc shouldn't be a problem, unless someone wants to add an "S" and that one is much more unlikely than the 1895. A 1904cc or 1905cc would be fine--any common date.
That's why I'd like to see a 21cc if he did a common date. The question is, would he use the 21 retooled design? Or a 78paf design, or a standard saf design? Or a 21 obverse paired with a standard saf reverse etc... So many variables but a standard 21 obv & rev with a cc on the back would be fun to look at.
I do intend to do a fantasy-date over-strike CC of some sort, eventually. If it were a Morgan dollar, I think 1877-CC. I want the date itself to be previously unissued for the type. "1886-CC", for example, doesn't quite fit the definition of "fantasy date" because 1886 Morgan Dollars were issued (just not from CC mint). But there are a lot of possibilities for CC Fantasy dates, such as: 1892-CC Barber or Seated; 1872-CC Trade Dollar; 1879-CC 20-cent; etc.
