Went to a Eastern bank a few years ago, I asked the banker if they had half dollars, she just pulled up a tray with 20 or so halves, not even in a roll, I picked through them, and I got a 1958 D, 1961 D Franklin, and a 1966 40% Kennedy, all for $1.50.
I'm wondering if she just halves from a safe deposit box, it wasn't even kept in a roll!

    2 boxes of Halves
    Box 1: Skunked
    Box 2: 1969D

In the second box I got a 1976S and two 2007S. Never got San Francisco halves before. They look nice but don't think they are silvers. This week I did 5 boxes of Halves and got (14) 40%ers. I am still pretty new to this and it was a good week for me considering I did 11 boxes of halves previously and got one keeper (1963D). What was concerning was in one box I got someone's dump. The clown tagged 60% of the coins in huge numbers "2-16". This was done in indelible ink too. Not excited about taking this box to the coin machine as I don't want to piss off the bank.

I think the "s" are from mint sets someone broke apart. Them might be silver. I found an Ike dollar "s" mint before.

I checked my Red Book and the mintages are very low for the S Halves. When I look at the ones I have they don't look Silver when you look at the rims.

S mint kennedy halves are proofs. Mostly clad, but they did start making silver proofs alongside clad in the mid-90s.
    This is pretty basic info.

    S-mint Kennedys:

    1968-1970 are 40% silver
    1971-1974 & 1977-1991 are clad
1976 could be 40% silver or clad (check the rim)
1992-now could be 90% silver or clad (check the rim)

Another box of halves with better results. Not earth shattering but better than a skunk.
    4 1966 40%
14 NIFC most in pristine shape
1 1973 proof with some wear
