i have a nickel that i found in circulation and its super shiny like a proof, did they make proof nickels in 1939, its shiny as a new dime but my scanner just makes it look flat, and if its rare is it worth anything?

I love Jefferson nickels. I'm in the process of collecting each mint of every year, I'm over half way there.

Are the corners of the edge sharp or rounded (like a normal circulating coin)?

I think you are referring to the rim. The edge is the outside portion of the coin. Is the corner between the edge and the rim sharp and square or rounded like a normal circulating coin?

If it was a Proof it has been heavily circulated. Your coin appears to be a normal heavily-circulated nickel. I can't tell from your photos but your coin may have been polished.

I have a very shiny '39 Jefferson nickel. Details are sharp and vivid. When I first looked at the date I thought "who would counterfeit a nickel". Is it worth anything? I know they say the '38 & '39 are the Jeffersons to have.

Thank you and I know. I just haven't figured out how to ask my question yet. 20160315_082214-1.jpg

That's what I have. It's a '39 but looks newer than a brand new 2015, my camera just won't do it justice.

Check the word "Monticello" on the reverse. If it's clearly doubled you have a goodie.

    bdunnse Who dat?

Must be hard to hold the coin by it's edges with only 3 fingers. Unless you still have your thumb.
