I collect mostly Worldwide gold coinage...but just started into US obsolete notes. Here are three to start...
Extremely great beginning to your Obsolete collecting adventures. Strap yourself in and enjoy the LONG ride through history.
Three beauties! Welcome to the world of obsolete note collecting! Btw, you find some interesting details about that Egg Harbor note on this thread -- https://www.cointalk.com/threads/new-obsoletes-from-baltimore.261764/#post-2217415
In US/Canada obsoletes....well everything thats affordable/ also UNCIRCULATED or BETTER. My main interests are GOLD coinage from 650BC to around 1918. Although I have some between 1918-1970. In obsolete notes I have about 600 US/ 16 Canadian....all certified UNC or better. Have some in 69! I will post more. love to share coins/notes...Hope photos are OK! John
Thanks! I just got into these five years ago, always collected Worldwide gold coinage 650BC to present. But GLAD I got into this new facet, really nice engraving/ vignettes. The obsolete bills were SO MUCH nicer then todays crappy currency.
Wow! That is a pretty old note, its amazing that some survived in such great condition. Thats the first note i have seen from Pittsfield/Mass. My brother in law lives there.
My girlfriend lives there, about a 30 mile trip for me. The note is only in very good condition and was reasonable about 10 years ago. Very few of these survived because of the very thin paper they were printed on. Only printed on one side. The reason it was printed is there was a big default in the banking system at the time. And mostly, I bought it because it was local history.
For sure you can get many of them for under $50 in UNC/ most are between 100-500/ some more....but still very nice and affordable. I love them....but still my coins more!
Just got in to collecting obsoletes last year. Was in the right place at the right time to get this sheet.
