I've always been able to get at least 10% above face value for these star notes...even modern ones like yours. Not sure if they're worth more, I don't do paper currency.

Ok, thanks. I'm not familiar with dollar bills either.

Cool find . Guess I'd have to find about a million dollars to make a nice buck at a dime for a dollar profit .

Sheila Ruley, so now you're checking out the currency, too! You've been bitten by the bug, as I have. I have NEVER checked my currency until I got on CT. Now, I do it all the time (I've never stopped looking at my change for the past 55 years). I'd encourage you to keep it. It is nice and crisp. Currently, you'll get nothing in a savings account. If you're strapped for cash (need to buy more cent rolls ;) ) that's a different story. If you want to sell it, PM me (I hope this is OK with CT rules).

I have one like yours. A dealer told me star notes can sell for ten percent over face.
But when I went back with a nice one he refused to buy it.
I also have heard that they are not worth anything.
Another dealer had one like yours at his table Sunday priced at $165! I had to ask what was so significant about it. He only said "It's a star note". Nothing special other than that. I'm friends with him and he is a wealth of information. But I hardly ever buy from him due to his high prices. I think he went to the Littleton school of pricing.
I'm interested to see if he ever sells it for $165.

wow! That's crazy! I, personally want to keep it, but I'm not sure he will let me. Lol. He wouldn't care if we were better off.

For what it's worth, I can vouch for Steve if you consider selling it to him. I had a very smooth deal with him and I'd do it again in a heart beat. :)

If you were a dealer, you could definitely get 10-20% above face value for it. But, if you don't have a store, it would be very hard to realize those profits.
