I have a 1997 Kennedy half that is a little off center on both front and back. Anyone know if it could be worth more than 50 cents? any info would help.

Cool. Slightly off center but I wouldn't say it's worth a ton. More than 50 cents though :)

First, welcome to the neighborhood, Wally!

Ordinarily, we would ask to see photos of both sides because it might be a misaligned die rather than an off-center strike. With that said, an O/C strike like this, being less than 5% O/C, wouldn't be worth more than face value in my opinion.

What Chris said. A bit more than 50 cents but you won't be able to retire on it. Maybe get something of the McD's dollar menu if you are lucky :)

I posted pics of the front and back to another member. I'm new to this site.

This isn't something that anyone can reasonably state is worth X amount. All will depend on who is interested and what they're willing to pay. On the low end you're looking at little to no premium as some will not view it as significant enough, while on the high, if lucky, end and the stars aligned, perhaps $10 or more if someone just HAD to have it. Overall though, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see someone, on ebay of course, pay a few bucks or so for it.

I found it in my drawer from years ago and noticed it was off a little. I was curious if it amounted to anything. I will hang on to it for now. Thanks

Considering how much time and energy you've wasted trying to figure out this coin's worth, I think you owe the universe about $25.33. Spend the half dollar (and keep your day job).

The key with anything outside the norm or hugely popular is to connect with the RIGHT buyer. Someone would pay a substantial percentage return for the coin, but is it worth the time and effort? Only you can decide, and at least yours is legitmate. Fortunately or unfortunately, most less than familiar with coins, upon seeing something "different", automatically assume it's valuable. There are surely still people out there sitting on their little stash of bicentennial coins, certain that just because they're "different" and the individual doesn't see them every day, they are worth a fortune and every dealer who has told them so is a lying shyster; it comes with the territory.

It's a neat coin and one certainly worth saving at the price you paid, especially if you like it. There was no harm in asking.

There is certainly no harm to you asking about this coin. It is how you learn. You should also be aware that we have a few unemployed comedians on these forums. Every once in a while, I might be one of them, just not this time.
