So I was told that a lot of the 2009 series new 100's were destroyed. I found some UNC bills from this series. Any value to these? Any info on these would be great as I can't sit on 1200 long

A lot of the series 2009 $100's were destroyed......but they printed 1.4 billion of them (that's billion with a B) , so I'm guessing unless you have some stars, I would go ahead and spend them.

The billions print count would lead one to believe there are a bunch out there somewhere, even if a bunch were destroyed, but how come there's an absence of them in circulation? As you said yourself Steve (in another thread), you've only seen 2 or 3 and they were all star notes.

With that said, I suspect there could very well be a lot sitting in vaults that will eventually get released.

It typically takes months after distribution to the Feds before you see a lot of them circulating. We can take another look at this phenomena come this summer and see if the picture still looks the same.

Exactly. Because of the printing problems, all of the 2009 $100's were held at the BEP until they could be re-inspected to cull out the error notes. That re-inspection process finally started last year, and the 2009 $100's were first reported in circulation early this year.

The Fed estimates that some 600 million of them will be issued this year (see footnote a to table 1 here). That's the smallest total for a $100 series since Series 1999 (which had 512 million printed), but it's nowhere near small enough to make them actually scarce.
