Haha did you think I meant insider? I was the first guy to lay into him when he was blatantly reading a post wrong and harassing the post op. I must admit I was sick that day and maybe I was a little brash with him but he needed a blunt and direct kick in the butt... He almost got on my bad side after he continued to dig in but he finally started seeing the light so I decided to give him a second chance then he vanished. That's why all my posts were jovial in nature rather than mildly berating. I don't mind if he comes back but hopefully his overuse of emojis and responding by highlighting op replies with different colors don't Mod, is he banned or just in time out?
Well? I guess we won't know until it's been at least 7 days. "That ban may stay in effect for a limited period of time, again discretionary, or it may be permanent - meaning you will be banned forever."
It isn't appropriate to give details about members that can't be seen in their public profile. This applies to all of us members.
The thing about this thread that bothers me most is that it is the longest thread I have ever posted...
I realize that they are different sites, with different rules, and different moderators. But, I like that NGC will tell us why people are banned or have strikes - it serves as a warning to others: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=31&page=1
If you read between the lines he's probably not banned, just on a break but I guess we'll know for sure soon enough
Their rules are pretty much just like ours, so is their "strike" policy. They call it strikes and we call it infractions but it works the same basic way. If anything ours is a bit more lenient. As for telling members why another is banned, I see 1 example of that over the 12 years covered by the posts found at that link you provided. And the reason given was "badgering other members". OK, granted, they tell you and we don't. But if somebody is badgering members isn't that going to be pretty obvious to anybody that is reading the forum ? Personally, I see it like this, the offender is told why but it's nobody else's business why a member is given a forced vacation or is permanently banned. Two reasons for that, it's between the offender and the CT staff, nobody else. And two, saying that so and so is having his hand slapped because of this or because of that - all that does invite armchair quarterbacks and Monday morning referees to inject their two cents worth when they have no say in the matter. And doing that just sows discontent and polarization, both of which are harmful to the health of the forum. Yeah, perhaps it's a different philosophy, but it happens to be the one we like best.
I've been banned from two forums. The FarmVille Forum which was because I posted a YouTube video that was preceded by an advertisement (dumb) and from the Where's George Forums for presenting arguments on why the dollar bill should be done away with. While there are some folks that aggravate the heck out of me, it's only because they refuse to "learn" when good solid advice is given. They usually disappear after they've had their fun though. As for Insider? Whatever. I'd not noticed and don;t really care to notice.
You know what's worst about that first banning? Youtube randomly places those ads, and few videos have ads every time. So any Youtube video ever posted could have an ad, or one the first viewer didn't see could have been there for the next viewer.
