I found this coin the other day when my dad and I were sorting his change. I was just wondering if it would be worth money or not.. And if it is how to go about selling it. I tried to take a picture but my camera sucks. There is a spot on the heads side that is actually the picture from the back side. Its the pillars from the building on the tails side and you can see them going along his back on the front of the penny.. Its hard to explain, hopefully you see what I'm talking about. I believe it might be called a die clash? I'm not sure. Any help Is greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!
google search die clashes, and compare yours. Be advised when people squish many in a vice, its not the same.
If it looks like this then it's a Clashed Die Error - not worth much But if it looks like this it's a Vise job.... worthless. Not a Mint error.
Ok finally got it to upload. Can u see what I'm talking about now? Sorry my camera is of poor quality. I took it with my phone
I finally was able to upload a pic. Its not too great of a pic but hopefully u can see what I'm talking about. I posted to the thread with it a minute ago. Thanks.
Bad picture.. did you read my post #5 at all? Looks like you have a Vice or Squeeze job Cent by the way the columns of the memorial are showing on the Obverse side of your Cent .. not an error
In general, on a die clash the designs from the other side only show on the field areas of the coin, not on the devices. If any do show on the devices they will be much weaker than those on the field. On a vise job the details from the other side will show very strongly on the devices and weakly on the fields. On yours the Memorial building appears to only be visible only on the bust, and strongly so, and not on the fields. That indicates a vise job.
Start your own unique thread with pictures.. Most likely you have a Die Deterioration Doubling issue on your Copper Plated Zinc Cent. And the correct Numismatic Terminology is Doubled Die.. not double die
Confirmed by who, the Pope? Even if you do have a DD, which I doubt, it's not worth what you or the You Tube videos have led you to believe. Show some photos. Clear close up photos of the whole coin on both sides. Until then, you have nothing. And then, after that, you probably have nothing. Signed Captain Skeptic Buzzkill
I have a 1991 coin where the SOF in stateS OF america is faded. S you can see but is almost impossible to see OF. is this worth anything?
Or somewhat atypical weakness caused by the fact those letters are opposite the base of Lincolns bust nad it is a lot easier for the metal to flow into that big wide open area than into the tight confines of the lettering.
Hello, can anyone help me figure out this penny. The penny is a 1991 D, not double die or double struck. At rhe end of "TRUST" under the last "T", from the exact bottom of the "T" there is a straight line that runs from under the T to through Lincolns bridge of his nose, under his cheek bone, on his jaw, ending just above his shoulder. I have 3 other 1991 D pennies, those do not have this distinct line. Please help thank you.
