I think BigTee is right. http://www.pcgs.com/crossover http://www.pcgs.com/servicesandfees Says that it's 1%. "The Guarantee Premium is equal to 1% of the value of the coin in its final grade."
I think PCGS is getting funny with some of their advertising. Since I buy a lot of coins from BOTH PCGS and NGC, it is amusing to say that the best coins end up in PCGS holders--talking about bragging rights!!! Most recently, I think NGC has been slightly outclassing PCGS in terms of toned and high end coins that I have noticed. Moreover, PCGS doesn't offer a * or equivalent grade for superior eye appeal. Perhaps it used to be that PCGS had the pick of the litter, but it hasn't been true for a while. Been very pleased with NGC, and will always buy the coin I like, AND the holder I like.
Yes, I'd rather have the coins in NGC holders but sadly NGC won't cross my old ANACS coins, so instead of ending up in NGC slabs, they will go to PCGS where I can get the Trueviews done and have them crosses.
Agree totally I send more to pcgs due to easier resale and I like the Slavs better but I prefer dealing with ngc far more and I feel they do a better job and more consistent
Been looking for, but haven't been able to find, a nice 1861 IHC. So, I thought I'd add this to my classic commem set. Seller's images (scans). Just got it in-hand today, and it's even more blasty-white than the scans might indicate.
Went to the US Mint in Philadelphia today and got 4 of these out of the quarter machine. Surprising how many of the older commemorates they still have for sale.
