Perry's Clash?

    Looks like a counter clash on the side of the monument.

    The mark on the column looks like damage. I'm not sure about the marks in the field.

    Yea, I really wasn't talking about the marks on the column, but what looks like the column image also in the field.

    So, if there is suspected damage in such close proximity, isn't it possible that the anomaly is also considered damage?

    I wouldn't argue that point. It is reasonable. But, could it be possible that the damage happened later and the column marks in the field came from the mint? To me, it just looks too much like the same pattern of the column, except it's a negative image. The high points on the field are the low points on the column. Maybe it was pressed against another coin.

    I suppose anything is possible, but would it be probable? If another coin was pressed against it, you would think that more of the high points of the devices would be damaged (flattened). Usually, the simplest answer is the best.
