Got these today at the monthly flea market for $2.50 total: The farthings are decent condition as is the NZ 3d, but once I got home and looked it up, the Cuba 10 centavos was the winner.
Like the NZ threepence. Tons of detail still on the coin and the dark toning just brings that out more.
2014 Aussie half dollar found in the reject slot - Nice coin, if not for the rims ruined by the coin counter!
Here is a little French Medieval coin I picked up as part of a trade. France, Valence - Bishops of Valence - (1157 - 1276 A.D.) AR Denier O: + VRBS VΛLЄNTIΛI, angel standing facing with wings displayed. R: S ΛP◊LLINΛRS, cross; annulet in fourth quarter. .9g 18mm Robert 4783
I was pretty excited to get this Portugal 1 escudo from 1935. These are super rare and the mintage is only listed with a dash in Krause. This completes my series and is also one of the rarest coins I own now. The other is a silver Turkish coin that I picked up for my turtles collection.
The first two I like; the third one ("5 europanos") is a private/fantasy issue. It shows a flag that was designed by Duncan Sandys (UK) for the Council of Europe (which was/is not an EC/EU body). Not sure why it shows 15 stars; the CoE had more members then ... Christian
I got these surprise silver bi-metals when buying some Mexican Pesos at a bit less than exchange rate. Someone I know had recently visited Mexico for a couple weeks and when he came into town he sold me some coins loose in a bag. (about 1000 face in mixed denominations). Some used looking ones, but check out both bottom coins dated 1992. One of them has wonderful natural toning. I took the best possible picture I could to show condition. I don't think the toning will show as good as in person. By the way, I did get a new camera last month. Sony DSC-H300. I mainly got it for other purposes, so I'll probably need another camera meant for coin photography.
