Here is a little French Medieval coin I picked up as part of a trade. I know Bing has one. France, Valence - Bishops of Valence - (1157 - 1276 A.D.) AR Denier O: + VRBS VΛLЄNTIΛI, angel standing facing with wings displayed. R: S ΛP◊LLINΛRS, cross; annulet in fourth quarter. .9g 18mm Robert 4783
Yep, and it's a cool coin just like yours. FRANCE, FEUDAL, Valence, Bishops of Valence and Die, Denier OBVERSE: Stylized angel facing, +VRBS VALENTIAI REVERSE: Cross annulet in fourth quadrant, +S APOLLI NARS Struck at Valence, FR, 1157-1276 1.18g, 19mm Boudeau 1021
Yes, very cool coins. The angels are scary, though, maybe they belong in Hell rather than Heaven ?? Q
Lol, cmon Mat! You like all the bad-boy emperors and empresses! Naw, those are Angels from Hades for you!
Ummm, am I allowed to post my double-denier? (I don't want to look pushy) => sweet, sweet Lorraine (1303-1312 AD) ... one of my favourite coins
Bishops of Valence is a great series, and reasonably priced. A very big piece of history in a small package. Nice piece.
