Yep. CAC doesn't hand out gold stickers even when they're clearly due. There are 3 guys that work there, but I'd bet the house that only John Albanese is allowed to give out the gold.

And the newest PCGS holder is possibly the cheapest looking and feeling holder I've ever encountered.

A lot of people will disagree with this and I take it you've never handled a newer ANACS holder?

Yeah the ANACS holders are obnoxious. And then there was that little self de'grading company down in Florida - their slabs are literally coming apart at the seams.

I would get whatever bean applies to these, then sell them and buy a nice coin in a current holder. Some people will pay big premiums, sometimes unwarranted, for the combination of a rattler and a sticker. I hate rattler holders, especially beat up ones.

    Agreed.

You are right the new PCGS slabs do feel lighter than the older ones, they've been more of a pain for me to crack though with the thicker edges

They don't just feel lighter, they are lighter. They are also higher quality than any previous generation.

I like the newer ones better too, the clarity is vastly improved on them. I thought they may actually be lighter but I didn't have any next to me to make a proper comparison. Thanks

According to their web page, CAC isn't accepting applications for membership at this time. You can, however, e-mail them and be put on a waiting list for a membership.

I'm on that waiting list right now.

How long have you been on that list John?

Does anyone ever get cleared from the waiting list, or is it like getting Packers season tickets?

You do actually get off the waiting list at somepoint. You'll randomly get an acceptance packet in the mail one day

My Chicago friends would consider that an affront, but I think that's downright, danged, funny.......:)

Nice people CAC is... they're always sending letters letting know when the office is going to be closed, and even send out Christmas gifts. People can whine and complain all they foolishly wish, but it's a fine service that, if used wisely, can offer benefits well beyond the sticker itself.

Yeah, I've made much fun of the service. But they do perform a service too.......
