if you were confidence that it will come back MS63? There aren't much difference in price b/t 61 and 63, plus it'll cost me like $40 per coin after shipping and grading fees.
I wouldn't no. I would go for a Gold CAC if anything and otherwise leave it alone. After the grading fees even if it did upgrade you're basically breaking even.
If the upgraded price wouldn't be worth it, try for a gold sticker. As pointed out above, a stickered old holder might stand out if you wanted to sell it.
it may go to MS63, and I think the delta will not be significant. I like the idea of going for CAC gold - lots of people get excited about that.
I like the old green slabs. They provide character. Insted of resubbing, go for the shiny gold CAC bean. Not many of those exist and if you believe your coin is undergraded, go for it. The gold sticker is, however, quite hard to get. Out of over half a million coins submitted to CAC about 2000 of them are gold beans.
They're insanely hard to get. I have an AU 58 with one that should be an MS 64 and 58 is probably the easiest grade to get them on but it took one of those are you kidding me grades to get it. The general feeling is they only give them out to coins with great eye appeal that are at least 2 points under graded. If his coins got a Gold in a rattler that would be moon money for the grade. 65 money may not be enough in an auction setting especially with how hard they are on gold.
CAC you have to be a member (It is free) and it would cost 12.50 a coin plus shipping both ways. Actually if you signed up as a collector they won't even charge you for the coins that do not sticker You can submit through a dealer as well, but I hate having someone else do things like that with my coins unless I have known them a long time and trust them.
I do like those old rattlers . So I'd just leave it be . Getting a gold CAC would be cool , but from what I hear they're pretty stingy with them .
Send them to cac. A gold would be huge and even a green bean is special on gold. Their very stingy even with those on gold By the way I've owned a total of 2 gold cac stickered coins. A ms 65 walker and a proof seated dime and both were very easy to sell
As for me, I'd rather have a MS-61 in a rattler than a MS-63 in a current holder. Grading standards were a bit tighter back then.
I'm not a big fan of changing out holders. I like the idea of going for the bean. It can be a big help if you plan to sell.
I think that they would both upgrade a couple of points, especially the 28, it looks like a 64 all day.
