Most of us associated with Pay Pal & Ebay received this notice. There was a thread on this earlier. Trouble is, there is very little money to be had in this suit if it is ruled in favor of plaintifs. And it could be dragged out long enough that most of will forget about it. There is as little as $3.00 to be received for the little sellers and mostly will only apply to bigger sellers or those with stores there. I applied just to be an irritant to Ebay. BTW, Sears has one going on also for defective dishwashers and this one pretty much scams the buyers also.
Hey, did yours catch fire? Mine caught fire. After having it serviced for the recall that was supposed to ensure it wouldn't catch fire. But we caught it before it damaged the house, so I guess it's all good. Just don't try to sell me another Maytag.
No, mine has been running well actually. What really got me about the suit was they will give you a 15% discount on a new one, or repair for free if it smoked and $300.00 credit towards a new one if it caught fire. How totally bizarre. It did not mention anything about smoke damage or if your house burned down.
Thank God I wash most of the dishes by hand.........no chance of anything catching on fire. The other stuff (paper plates [don't get on me you green people] gets tossed into the trash.
Typically if you enter a class action, you sign away your rights to sue the company directly. It is much easier for the consumer, who doesn't have to hire a lawyer, etc. It is made to cover the mass of "average" consumers. If your house got burned down, it would be a mistake to just join a class action.
The last time I participated in some class action lawsuit vs. Ebay I did receive a huge settlement - a cheque in the amount of a whole cent! I still have it somewhere, why waste time cashing a cent cheque?
Whoa-whoa-whoa!! => hey, don't let Bing hear ya talkin' like that!! (a penny saved, is a penny earned) ... I love ya, brother
I thought class action suits only awarded a few dollars also. Until last year when I received a check for over $7800.00 out of the blue in a class action suit from several years ago in one of my other businesses.
In 2011, I got $.27 from eBay as my share of a class action settlement. Still trying to decide how to invest it. Until then it's here on my bulletin board.
I am in the class action involving faulty Sears dishwashers. I've already taken action: I no longer do business with the company But as far as Sears has slid, I doubt they are shedding any tears.
If, in the unlikely, event that there was a large settlement against K-Sears they would just finally go bankrupt. Something that has been predicted for a long time now. I never go to Sears anymore. They are a shell of the company they used to be, they have dumbed down their tools by having them made in China with no guarantee like before, Kenmore is no longer a good brand etc. Back in the early '60s my grandfather bought Craftsman commercial grade power tools from Sears - now some 50s years later I am still using them and they are in great shape. Sure he paid good money for them, but tools and equipment should be made to last - even for generations.
Just to be an irritant and make them pay the 50 cent check cashing fee most of these are required to pay. I've done it many times with 5 & 10 cents checks from those shady marketing companies who try to get you to buy something worthless from them. But hey, that's just me.
