Costs $125. Worth it or not? Sorry I'm posting so many threads, I'm trying to find a rainbow toned Morgan I like.
Do you like it? Is it accurately graded? Do you have access to a price guide? Is it a reasonable premium for the toning? Is it worth it to you? We cannot answer these questions for you - only you can answer them.
It's nice and good eye appeal for a MS-62, but I don't think the toning is worth a premium, and that price definitely has a premium attached. Edit: @physics-fan3.14 and I posted simultaneously. My answer represents, well, my answer to his questions. I would not buy that coin at that price.
Ditto. 84o has some AMAZING toners *cough* @Mainebill *cough* I think you paid a bit too much for a 62 of that year mm with minimal coverage crecent. Although I will say that for a "sliver" crecent the colors and progression do pop
In response to my own questions: I like the coin. I think it is quite attractive. I also think, however, that it is an *extremely* strong premium for what is, ultimately, a common coin in a low grade with fairly standard crescent toning. Without the toning, the coin is $40. In my opinion, with the toning I'd go to $50, $60 if I just couldn't live without it. Under no circumstances would I go to $125. But, that's me. Your opinion may differ.
I think the OP is asking for opinions *before* he buys the coin. That is vastly preferable to the approach so many others take, posting after they buy something and asking if they got a good deal.
That, IMO, is a huge premium to pay for not too much toning, though it is attractive. You can do better
I think it has a nice story to it. Another Morgan overlapped it, probably in a bank bag for decades. And, the toning is like a rainbow in the sky in the background. But, it depends on how much value you place on that perspective to pay at that price point.
Way to much premium for a sliver of toning. On a baggy 62 too. For $125 you can often buy a nicely but not spectacular toned 64
I have a double-sided rainbow toner with a crescent-shaped untoned area that I think has a better story. I would also prefer this coin to the rainbow toned coin. This one isn't at all flashy, but it has nice eye appeal and looks 1000% original. I'd keep looking at eBay, GC, etc. and hit up the next decent coin show you can make it to. The way to find nice coins is to look at a lot of coins.
I picked this one up for $90 at long beach a couple weeks ago. Guy was asking $110 And by freaking chance it's an... 84o... lol And it's better than 62 Deals are out there so patients is KEY (Pics done by Todd Pollock of BluCC but have been downsized a little)
You want rainbow toning - have at it - LOL!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/RAINBOW-TON...878442?hash=item210a3fddaa:g:VV8AAOSwL7VWqCaW
