Love the proof 3 Pence. And the rest of those coins are top notch, even if you're going to return one
This is one of the last years these were minted before Greece joined the Euro. I have always like the Greek coinage since if was full of history and mythology. This set arrived tonight from Athens Greek still sealed in the original mint envelope. 2000 Greece Mint set Mintage NA
The 1938 proof threepence is the most affordable pre-55 proof, I paid about $3300 for this, they were selling $10,000+ 5 years ago so I think they're underpriced now. Still, about 20 years ago I turned one down for $250.
There's always those, "I wish I knew..." moments in collecting. Those have come down in price but I'm just a college student and don't have that kind of change sitting around. Beautiful coin though.
Here are mine... I added 2 more mint sets from Australia. I already have a mint and proof set, but I wanted these because of some special coins. 1986 was the International Year of Peace and the set contains a $1 coin which was a one year only design. The 1988 set has 3 special coins. It contains the first year of the $2 coin, a one year only $1 designs as well as a one year only 50 cent design. These were all circulating coins. I got a special deal on these 2 sets. $25 total for both. I don't know why but Krause list the 1986 for $80 retail and the 1988 for $82.50. Maybe somewhere someone would pay that much. Whenever I find him, they are for sale. 1986 Australia Mint Set Mintage 180,000 1988 Australia Mint Set Mintage 240,000
1953 Ireland Sixpence, NGC MS-66 Mintage: 800,000 Composition: Copper-Nickel Diameter: 20.8 mm PCGS and NGC Population: 4/1 higher (PCGS MS-66+ finest) Still refining my photography process. Gorgeous luster on this coin.
So I got this today. First pic is the sellers, the crown was in a belt buckle. I looked at it and thought I'd take a gamble on it. I didn't have a crown and this one was pretty cheap. So I got it today, the reverse is nice, toned, only a few marks from the buckle. However, the obverse doesn't look nice. Whoever made this placed a piece of cardboard in the back (probably to stop it from rubbing and marking the coin) but it put this nasty black toning. All in all, not a bad buy.
Got these off ebay for $0.99 and they arrived today. Also came with a 1919 China 20 Cash coin. 1875 Japan 1/2 Sen 1881 Japan 2 Sen
I got this tonight going through some cwr nickel's, from what I understand it's a 1970's Ethiopian coin.
I had a chance to pick up a "lot" of coins from Cuba for $30 and got this. 1983 5 Pesos Silver proof, UNC, Mintage 5000 1996 Peso Colorized fish, UNC, Mintage 10,000 A couple of 2004 Peso Commemorative coins, UNC, mintage NA A 1920 Centavo and 1952 10 Centavo(Silver) circulated coinage A handful of Convertible (tourist) Series coins. I understand these are minted to stay in country and supposedly have a stronger value than the regular coinage. I have a few duplicates of these. All in all, I think I got a bargain and some interesting coins. Marks on top 2 coins are on the plastic capsules, coins are spotless.
Yes, there are three types: Intur coins for travelers from socialist countries (issued in 1988), Intur coins for other tourists (various dates in the 1980s), and the tourist coins that simply say República de Cuba, issued in the 1990s and later. Not sure about the first type, but the others were "Peso Cubano Convertible" coins, with 1 peso/CUC = 1 dollar/USD ... Christian
A few more cash coins came in the mail today. I know they aren't rare or all that amazing. But I like them. I think I have them attributed correctly. 1668-1700 Japan 1 Mon 1875-1908 China Guanxu Tong Bao 1878-1883 China Qianlong Tong Bao
I think it is 2004 based on http://creounity.com/apps/time_machine/index.php?go=ethiopia.php&lang=en I found one on the floor of the airport in Addis Ababa while in line to go through the metal detector. I was super happy since I couldn't get any coins besides the 1 Birr from any of the stores in the airport.
