Hello All, I have searched the forums but cannot find anything regarding coins that are fake or reproductions on Ebay that are listed as real or genuine. I have come across many the last few weeks. is there any way to warn bidders or get a listing removed? I just looked at an auction for a 1933 St Gaudins that currently has 7 bids and is up to $1275. I understand I am not the ebay police, but I am new to collecting and almost got suckered last week. This seller has 5 or 6 pre-33 coins that are all fake but are listed as genuine and there is no mention whatsoever of being a copy. Maybe I should mind my own business but I do feel a responsibility after seeing the listings. Am I wrong? Should I just mind my own business??

There are many members here who continually report fakes. I don't see anything wrong with reporting them when you see them.

The link you posted is definitely a fake. I reported it. In the lower right of the eBay listing is a "report item" link. I usually go the "illegal activity" route when reporting fakes like this one.

Seeing that you are new to collecting, just be sure that when you do post links to fake coins, they are indeed fake. There have been some new members to CT that have linked to genuine coins, contending they were fake.

    Welcome to Coin Talk.

You aren't wrong, but it is a losing battle. Fake listings and ebay go hand in hand, stick to the graded things for coins of value and you'll weed out a lot of those scam type listings.

Now they are showing as removed, sold to highest bidder. I feel bad for the idiots who had bid.

I sent him a pretty threatening message, and he immediately ended the listings and sold to the highest bidders. I wish he could go to jail... such a scum.

The next step after reporting to ebay would be to the Attorney General's Office, the FBI and any other Government watchdogs. We (could) up the ante on this folks.

They would just take a report at best especially for just photoshopping a picture covering the word copy, they have bigger fish to fry. If you can ever prove someone is making fakes themselves the secret service would care

What is this crook's eBay name, I am having trouble with a guy now trying to sell a fake token, and he is using information that came from me as attribution for the token, I attributed the original discovery piece

I like Ebay for coins but they don't do a good job of weeding out the sellers of fake coins. I've also reported obvious fake coins being sold and the same sellers continue to get away with it.

Sounds like you and @Conder101 have more in common than a name :)

Guys, there's really nothing substantial to be done here. Ebay is like a flea market now where caveat emptor is their working policy. Especially the big money players like Great Sothern Coins. Many GSC fakes have been identified and reported directly to the people who kill auctions and their bosses don't let the big money guys like GSC get touched. It's very sad so if you must buy on eBay be very careful and know your stuff!

There is a new listing on E-Bay: 1964 SMS (special strike) Kennedy Half. Price: $1500.00. Seller: cortes84725. No returns! Raw coin! Item # 201525590303.

What a fraud this is! Red flags all over the place! Check it out.

I wouldn't buy a raw coin on EBay with somebody else's money. How's that for caveat emptor?
